Selecting a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) is an important decision.  The Pines at Whiting wants to provide you with all of the information you need to feel confident and empowered to make the best decision possible for your retirement planning.  The Pines at Whiting has compiled answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we receive, and we have divided them into the following categories:

A continuing care retirement community is a convenient, satisfying place to live that brings true security and peace of mind because you have the assurance of assisted living and skilled nursing care on the premises, should you need it. You live in a residential community with people who share your interests and outlook. You live in your own home with your cherished possessions but without the stress of maintenance, housekeeping and meal preparation.

A:

It is living at home, but in one that is designed for the life you are living now. You enjoy all the freedom you're accustomed to with many added features for comfort and safety.   And; breakfast and dinner along with housekeeping services, transportation, grounds care, emergency call service and more are provided.  A well trained staff of maintenance workers will take care of any repair problem. The worries are ours, not yours.

The Pines at Whiting is ideally located near scenic Keswick Lake, among 50 landscaped acres in the pinelands of southern New Jersey.  We are within the Ocean County town of Whiting at the intersection of Route 530 and Schoolhouse Road. The Pines at Whiting welcomes your visit and will provide you with all the details about our special brand of full-service retirement living. Tour various apartment styles, our landscaped courtyard and the beautifully appointed Centrum-the hub of activity at The Pines at Whiting.

When you choose independent living in New Jersey at The Pines at Whiting, you furnish your apartment home as you like. We provide: frost-free refrigerator/freezer and electric range with oven. We also provide wall-to-wall carpeting and window coverings.

Yes. We provide convenient parking for you and your guests.

A:

You can travel as long as you like, knowing that your home and possessions will remain well attended. If you are gone for two weeks or more, you will be given a credit for missed meals.

A:

You will have a sense of safety and security knowing that you and your apartment will be protected by our 24-hour emergency call system and staffing as well as lighted parking areas and walkways.  Plus, all areas of The Pines at Whiting is connected without stepping foot outside.

If you have special dietary requirements, our registered dietician will help you select a suitable program. Meals are carefully planned and prepared to offer a wide range of solutions.

A:

Our Health Care Center operates 24 hours a day, providing rehabilitation and post-hospitalization care and long-term skilled nursing care. The Health Care Center is staffed by a team of professionals whose goal is to help you return to your residence and active life as soon as possible.

A:

A qualified physician who acts as Medical Director for the Health Care Center is on call 24 hours a day. The Medical Director and nursing staff are familiar with their resident’s medical background.  Or, residents are welcome to continue with their personal physician. For independent living residents, licensed nurses are on duty 24 hours a day and can provide emergency assistance in your residence.

A:

Under our all-inclusive contract you will continue to pay your regular monthly maintenance fee. Additional meals required by health care regulations are provided for a reasonable charge. Under our fee-for-service contract, you will eligible for a discounted health care rate.

A:

Yes, to help you maintain your independence for as long as possible and to keep you secure in your own home, we make available in-home health services.

A:

Each home is equipped with an emergency call system that is monitored 24 hours a day.

 


A:

Your monthly maintenance fee pays for the following:

  1. Your choice of one meal per day plus Continental buffet breakfast in our dining rooms
  2. Monthly light housekeeping service and weekly linen service
  3. Convenient laundry facilities
  4. Water, electricity, heating and air conditioning
  5. Property taxes
  6. Lawn and landscaping services
  7. Scheduled transportation service
  8. On-premises skilled nursing care at Hamilton Place and assisted living at Georgetown; plus, a 24-hour monitored emergency call system in each apartment
  9. Free convenient parking for you and your guests
  10. All recreational and community facilities plus a planned cultural and entertainment program under the supervision of a full-time recreation director
  11. Modern Fitness Center led by a trained fitness professional
A:

Yes, portions of both fees allocated to health care have been considered an acceptable tax deduction by the Internal Revenue Service. But please consult your own tax consultant.

A:

For adults 62 and better, a refundable deposit amounting to 10% of your total entrance fee plus a nonrefundable processing fee per person will give you the opportunity to reserve your own home at The Pines at Whiting.

 


A:

You have a whole range of activities from which to choose.  Arts and crafts rooms where you can learn a new skill, or perfect a lifelong hobby. . .inviting lounges for games and friends or just relaxing. . .library and a community theatre/auditorium for live performances, concerts, movies. . .shuffleboard.. . . computer lab …. In-House Television Station...educational classes … wooded walking paths. . .and scheduled transportation for errands and shopping, plus local day trips.

In addition to all the recreational facilities that are readily available in the community, many programs and events are arranged by our Recreation Director. A monthly published calendar keeps you informed of upcoming events.

A:

Your guests --- children, grandchildren, friends and relatives are always welcome to visit you in your home. They too can enjoy meals with you in the dining room for a minimal charge, sharing the enjoyment of your new community. A guest room is also available for overnight guests at a nominal charge.
